Abstract This study shows the neotectonic deformation occurred in southern piedmont of Cumbres Calchaquíes, Amaicha and Tafí valleys. Neotectonic manifests itself through faults, folds diversions drainage channels. The valley is bounded to north by del Valle fault south Los Cardones fault. Calchaquíes ride over Sierra de Aconquija Carapunco faults. also has a synestral component, responsible for generating an imbricated system contractional fractures. In region many earthquakes ? 3 4 magnitude coincide with regional faults evidencing its activity. seismic energy dissipated materials less cohesion that form fill valleys, discrete scarps strongly folded conglomerate strata. foothills deposits absorbed most released during reactivation Tectonic activity deforming 630 BP piedmont.
